Case studies

What have I done so far?

This is a short list of projects and sessions I have conducted list of projects and sessions I have conducted

Implementing Sociocracy at the International Degrowth Conference

For the annual International Degrowth Conference, I facilitated a session where participants explored and consented on sociocracy as a governance model—both as a learning experience and as a practical decision-making tool.

The session guided attendees through sociocratic principles and applied them in real-time to determine the conference’s governance structure. By engaging in consent-based decision-making, the group collectively assessed whether to establish a formal governance framework.

Facilitated and coordinated the food Autonomy Festival Utrecht

At the Food Autonomy Festival in Utrecht, I facilitated dynamic discussions on sustainable food systems and community empowerment.

The sessions brought together diverse voices to exchange knowledge, experiences, and ideas on building self-sufficient and resilient food communities.

My role was to ensure an inclusive space where everyone could contribute, guiding the conversation to uncover shared insights and practical strategies. The experience was deeply participatory—grounded in hands-on dialogue, collective learning, and a strong sense of community connection.

Embodied Practices

In a recent workshop series, I combined dance with embodiment and somatic experiencing to offer a unique exploration of body and emotion, often connected to a specific topic such as feeling and expressing earth emotions.

Participants were guided through dance and movement as tools for self-expression and healing, alongside somatic practices to increase body awareness and emotional release.

Climate crises and Narratives

In this session I facilitated with journalists and artists, we explored how to shift climate narratives towards justice-based storytelling.

The aim was to critically assess current narratives and co-create new ones that highlight climate justice and amplify marginalized voices.

Through interactive discussions and creative exercises, participants developed actionable strategies for incorporating these themes into their work.

The outcome was a set of principles for more inclusive and empathetic climate storytelling, fostering a collaborative commitment to enriching the climate dialogue.

Regenerating a cooking course

In a focused session, I assisted the owner of an Italian restaurant in redesigning their cooking course to enhance the overall user experience and elevate the owner’s facilitation skills.

Through a collaborative approach, we identified key areas for improvement, integrating interactive elements and personalized touches to the course structure.

The outcome was a revamped cooking class that not only offered participants a deeper, more engaging culinary journey but also empowered the owner to facilitate more effectively, resulting in increased satisfaction and enrollment.

Facilitating the organization of the earth

I had the rewarding experience of organizing, facilitating, and hosting the Earth Festival—a gathering dedicated to local climate issues, celebration, and reflection on climate justice and privilege.

This vibrant space brought together community members to learn, share, and engage in environmental activism through workshops, discussions, and artistic expressions.

By exploring the complexities of climate justice, we deepened our understanding of collective responsibility and action. The festival fostered meaningful connections, learning, and a shared commitment to addressing the climate crisis in a just and inclusive way.

Exploring Prefiguration and Power Dynamics Through Interactive Talks

I have been hosting a series of talks on prefiguration and power dynamics, delving into how we can embody the societal changes we seek—right here and now.

These sessions unpack the often complex ways power operates within groups and explore strategies for navigating it to build stronger, more equitable communities.

Although structured as lectures, I integrated my facilitation philosophy by prioritizing participant involvement through online tools, and fostering both personal and pair reflection.

Rather than simply sharing my own insights, the sessions created space for participants to tap into their own knowledge and experiences, making the lecture more engaging, dynamic, and transformative.

Strengthening Decision-Making Through Facilitation

In a series of facilitation sessions, I worked with multiple organizations to refine their decision-making processes. Using sociocracy and inclusive meeting practices, we addressed challenges in group dynamics, communication, and alignment.

Each organization faced unique hurdles, from clarifying strategic goals to navigating internal conflicts. Through guided discussions, role-play, and iterative feedback loops, we co-developed approaches that enhanced transparency, efficiency, and consensus.

The result was always noticeable improvement in decision-making speed and overall team satisfaction—demonstrating how intentional facilitation can transform organizational effectiveness.

Societal Transformation Lab programme

In my university time, I started Societal transformation Lab to enact societal change, specifically tailored to my university campus’s social dynamics. This immersive experience not only deepened my understanding of systemic change theories but also provided practical frameworks for applying these insights to improve campus life.

By collaboratively facilitating sessions focused on enhancing social cohesion, inclusivity, and engagement among students, we initiated meaningful conversations and actions that addressed prevalent social challenges and inequalities.

This project demonstrated the powerful impact of combining academic learning with actionable facilitation, leading to a more connected and supportive university community.

"Introduction to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion" workshop series

As part of the Critical Engagement Initiative, I facilitated a 3-day online workshop series focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Through reflection and engagement on topics such as boundaries, communication, and embodiment, participants were guided to explore the connection between identity and politics.

I supported them in identifying personal strategies to promote diversity and inclusivity, both in their own lives and within their school communities. The series empowered participants to deepen their understanding of these crucial issues and apply their learning to create more inclusive environments.

Hosting a 10 days program on wellbeing

During this 10-day wellbeing retreat, my primary responsibility was to create a safer space where participants could fully experience and embrace their own journey without judgment. I focused on fostering an environment of acceptance and self-compassion.

In addition to this, I empowered participants by providing facilitation tools, enabling them to lead their own workshops. This approach allowed them to run effective sessions while also integrating their learning and emotions through meaningful conversations.

To further enrich the experience, I facilitated a series of workshops that explored various aspects of identity and culture, encouraging participants to collectivize and politicize their understanding of wellbeing.

Facilitating Stakeholder Engagement for Regenerating the Asinaro River Basin

As part of my honours course, we applied U Theory in facilitating stakeholder engagement aimed at regenerating the Asinaro River Basin in Noto.

After stakeholder interviewes to understand the social and ecological challenges facing the river we hosted a collaborative day with all of them to discuss and engage in critical aspects of the river basin’s regeneration.

The goal was to foster a sense of ownership among the participants and facilitate meaningful change, empowering them to take an active role in the regeneration process.
